Tutavir® is an IPM-compatible product which will provide a useful, non-chemical addition to the growers options when reducing populations of Tuta absoluta, especially when other means of control prove less effective due to insect resistance to chemical plant protection products.
British tomato growers now have the opportunity to use the biological product Tutavir® after CRD recently granted an emergency approval for a period in the 2024 season.
The BTGA’s Dr Phil Morley has worked closely with Crop division Manager Aneeta Gupta from Andermatt, and Horticulture Crop Protection Ltd’s Crop Protection Scientist, Dr Joanna McTigue, over recent months to achieve a more timely Emergency Approval to use the Tuta absoluta biological control product Tutavir® early in the season when populations of this important pest are low providing the best the growers a valuable tool against the fight against this devastating pest!
